Filming, chatting and snapping. A busy June for the team!

Winners 2012

Shining Stars 2012 award winners & Mayor of Derby Cllr Lisa Higginbottom

Volunteers’ week has been and gone. In fact, it seems ages ago now.  Our Citizens’ Eye guys were really busy filming, snapping photos and interviewing people in Derby about their volunteering experiences during the week.  The flashmob went really well – see previous posts – and we were really blessed with the weather and turnout on the day 🙂

This year’s Shining Stars volunteering awards event (also to mark Volunteers’ Week) was a major success. 70 volunteers took part in the celebrations, all receiving thank you certificates from the Mayor of Derby.  We also saw some individual achievement awards given out on the day and heard some inspiring stories too.  A very humbling experience.

The Citizens’ Eye Derby team were there on the day to film the event.  See below:

We’re currently busy working on a youth volunteering film with the fantastic Money, Power, Respect team based at Global Education Derby. The MPR project has been nominated for the NCVYS Young Partners Award – sponsored by BIG Lottery and Participation Works.  Fingers crossed they get the recognition they deserve.

We’re also working on an annual review film for our host organisation Community Action Derby.  It will cover the many different work areas, projects and services delivered by Community Action.  This will be shown at the Community Action AGM at The Riverside Centre on Thursday 13 September.  So, popcorn at the ready everyone!
